The SDSG had another successful meeting on February 10, 2012 at the San Diego Art Department. After the introduction and welcome by our president, Suzanne Knight and the treasurer’s report by Suzie Sherwin, Kaki Stewart gave a preview of the upcoming SPIN festival in Santa Fe in July. Many workshops are already completely booked up and it promises to be a fantastic gathering of artistic talent, expertise, and creative ideas. (for more information, please click on the SPIN tab on the menu bar.)
We had two fabulous guest speakers. The first was Judith Ross from Christchurch, New Zealand who was serendipitously available to talk with our group. Her specialty is quilting with silk and she shared lots of tips and hints and inspirational work.
Next up was our own Judy Stinton, who shared tons of amazing and simple tricks with pieces of hand-dyed silk. Scrunchies (and what to do with them!), jackets made from 45″ squares, knitting with hand-made silk ribbon, necklaces from scraps — Judy showed us how and more.
It was another exciting meeting that stimulated tons of creative ideas!
